Spring Break at Barton Creek Resort

We went to Barton Creek Resort on the west side of Austin for Spring Break and had a great trip. The weather was wonderful and the resort was awesome.

Here is the week in pictures....

Our first stop was Zilker Park to see my friend Jennifer and her son Peyton. We had fun riding the train around the park. It was HOT that day...

Then we were off to the resort... They had a special Spring Break game room setup with video games, a ping-pong table and lots of board games. We made at least one stop in the game room each day. Here is Danny and the kids playing the racing game. Another favorite was pinball, David is quite good!
Another fun activity was the nature trail. It was about 1/2 mile in length and it started almost outside our door. There was a great treehouse the kids climbed on and a huge teepee that they loved playing in. Hannah carried the camera for most of the nature hike and wanted to take tons of pictures, I will post only one, I had at least 15 others to choose from...none of them have any people.

We swam at the pool everyday. I don't have any pictures of us at the pool for 2 reasons; first we never remembered the camera and second I didn't want any photographic evidence of me in a maternity swimsuit!!

We ate lunch 2 days at the buffet near the pool. It was great food and the kids ate free!! Near the tables for lunch there was a giant chess set. The kids loved it!! Hannah wanted to play so badly, we kept telling her she was too young to play, but she persisted....so we let the them around with the pieces one day, they had a blast with their own 'game' of chess!

We played put-put golf one evening. It was fun to watch the kids, they are too little to really play, but they sure had fun. It was quite a typical outing for us with the kids - Danny took both inside for a potty break and there were tears at least once.

The resort also had a family scavenger hunt set-up for the week. The clues sent us all over the all place, from the tennis courts to the golf pro shop and one of the restaurants. The kids loved it and we all had fun. Hannah was the official 'clue reader,' she was quite good at her job and impressed several staff members. Here are Danny and the kids on the tennis courts looking for a clue.

We had a wonderful and relaxing week. We have discussed making Barton Creek at spring break tradition!!

Big Boy Bed

We finally made a decision about a big boy bed for David and got him a set of bunk beds. He was way to big for the crib and ready to pass it on to the baby.

Here is a picture of the bed. I still need to find a comforter for it, for now it just has a sheets and a blanket.
He LOVES the bunk bed. He and Hannah love to play on the top bunk! The ladder goes "night-night" outside his room each night, just in case he gets any crazy ideas. Thanks to Aunt Lisa for that suggestion!

The crib is now moved to Hannah's room and all set up and ready for the baby. We switched Hannah's bed and dresser to allow room for the crib.

Here is a shot after a long morning of furniture moving and assembly:

I need to take a picture of the room with the crib bedding and Hannah's bed all made up. I obviously have a thing for bright pink and green together - the bedding sets match!!

Father Daughter Dance

Hannah and Danny went to the Rockwall YMCA Father Daughter Dance on Feb 21. They both had a blast.

Hannah LOVED getting all dressed up and having some special time with her Daddy.

David was feeling left out, so he had to get in a picture.

Valentine's Day

Around our house Valentines is more of a holiday for the kids than us. We don't like to go out on Valentines day and deal with the crowds and the hiked up prices.

David had a party at his Mother's Day Out and really got it this year. His Valentines box was very boy...green with a black lid covered in dinosaur stickers.

Hannah had a party at her school too. It was the classic school party and she loved it!! Here she is with all of her goodies!

100th Day of of Kindergarten

I am a little behind in updating this blog...so I will try to catch up on the significant events of the last month or so.

In early February Hannah's school celebrated the 100th day of school with a big celebration. Her assignment was to come to school wearing an item of clothing that had 100 things attached to it. We decided to make an apron with 100 rhinestone crystals. She loved it and it was fun making it together.

Here she is...

Friday Night at Home

We have a busy Friday night! After dinner Danny and Hannah went upstairs to practice piano. Hannah LOVES when her Daddy is home to help her practice. She is really liking her lessons and doesn't balk too much at practicing, especially if her Daddy is helping!

While they were practicing I gave David a much needed haircut. I had to promise a treat at the end, but he was great! I cut his hair in the master bathroom with him in the big bathtub. It started out as David containment device, but is now more for just hair containment. I use the clippers and he tolerates the entire process pretty well. Here are the results:

AFTER:

The whole family enjoyed the after haircut treat. We all had a heart shaped Reeses Peanut Butter cup - yummy!!!

After the treat it was bath and bed for the kids and we are about to relax and watch some TV together!

I did it!!

I caved to the pressure and created a blog!!!
